Watermelon Cucumber Water

Our simplest cooler and our favorite. You will be shocked at how much fruit and herb flavor seeps into your Fruit Water as it sits in the fridge.


For Watermelon, Mint, and Cucumber Water

  • 6 thin slices cucumber
  • 1 quarter small watermelon, cut into thin triangular pieces, rind removed (about 5-6 pieces)
  • 1 large sprig fresh mint (8-10 leaves)

For Raspberry, Ginger, and Thai Basil Water

  • ¾ cup fresh raspberries
  • 4-5 thin slices fresh ginger, skin on
  • 1 large sprig Thai Basil


Fill a 75-95 ounce glass pitcher with fresh cold water and add a handful of each ingredient. Chill 4 hours or overnight to give the fruit time to flavor the water. Fruit water will taste delicious all day.

Love sipping on a flavorful beverage, but hate all those extra calories and chemicals? In this article, my friend and health blogger Melissa Gundersen shows us 11 delicious infused water recipes and steps us through how to make them!

Every morning I wake up, stumble to the kitchen, and make myself a pitcher of infused water. Some mornings I’ll add apples to my water, other days it’s strawberries, cucumbers, or oranges. Since I avoid soda and other sugary drinks, infused water gives me a burst of flavor without any refined sugars or added calories. Plus, drinking infused water has been linked to a boosted immune system, weight loss, and much more. That’s because as the ingredients soak, their powerful nutrients release into the water.

Here are 11 of my all-time favorite infused water recipes and how they benefit health! When making infused water it’s important to let it sit in the refrigerator for at least two hours before drinking. This will allow the nutrients and flavor to seep into the water.

Apple Cinnamon

Add a thinly sliced apple (without the seeds) and one cinnamon stick to a pitcher of water. There’s really no right and wrong when it comes to measurements, so if you want a stronger flavor then add less water. On the flip side, if you simply want a hint of flavor then use more water.

This drink is often referred to as a flat belly drink. Plus, the apple in this recipe offers good-for-you nutrients that boost immunity and fight cancer.

Watermelon Mint

Cube one cup of fresh watermelon and add it to a pitcher of water. Then, stir in between four-six mint leaves. If you don’t want your water to have a powerful mint flavor then only use about four leaves (or even less if you prefer). Remember, you can always add more mint flavoring, but once the leaves have infused into the water you can’t take the taste away.

Strawberry Mint

Cut one cup of strawberries in half and add them to a pitcher of water. Then stir in about four mint leaves. This is perhaps my favorite infused water recipe. It’s the perfect refreshment! Plus, the mint leaves help to settle an upset stomach and the strawberries are rich in disease-fighting antioxidants.

One recommendation – always use organic produce when making infused water. You don’t want to drink a bunch of pesticides!

Cucumber Mint

Thinly slice one cucumber and add to water. I leave the skin on because that’s where many of the vitamins and minerals live. Then, add about four mint leaves. When you drink this water close your eyes and imagine you’re at the spa!

Lemon Cucumber

Thinly slice half a cucumber and one lemon. Then, add the slices to a pitcher of water. This is a great morning drink since it can help beat belly bloat and boost your energy!

Strawberry Lemon Basil

Cut one cup of strawberries in half, thinly slice one lemon, and mix five basil leaves into a pitcher of water. Along with its unique flavor, the basil leaves provide anti-bacterial properties.

Strawberry Kiwi

Cut one cup of strawberries in half, thinly slice one kiwi, and add to a pitcher of water. Since kiwi is considered a prebiotic food, this infused water is extremely beneficial for digestion.

Blueberry Kiwi

Add half a cup of fresh blueberries, two thinly sliced kiwis, and three mint leaves to a pitcher of water. Aside from the deliciousness, there are plenty of health benefits packed into this drink. The blueberries are a great “brain food” and the kiwis and mint leaves support digestive health.

Orange Blueberry

Load up on vitamin C and antioxidants with this drink. Simply add half a cup of fresh blueberries and a thinly sliced orange to a pitcher of water.

Raspberry Lemon

Add half a cup of fresh raspberries, a thinly sliced lemon, and three mint leaves to a pitcher of water.

Lemon Grapefruit

If you like citrus fruits then you will love this! Add half a cup of halved strawberries, a thinly sliced lemon, and a thinly sliced grapefruit to a pitcher of water.

The US National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine recommends about 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day for men and about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day for women. That includes water, liquids from other beverages and liquids in foods.

There are myriad benefits to drinking enough water every day including its positive impact on your digestive system. Water also lubricates joints, can help in weight loss, can improve your skin as well as optimizing cell and organ function. Drinking water can also boost your energy. Your body is composed of up to 70% water and we need to stay hydrated to stay healthy. Experts advise 4-6 cups of water a day for healthy people, though you should check with your doctor for the best amount for you if you have existing health issues. One way to check if you are drinking enough water is to look pay attention to your urine color. A light slightly yellow color means you are probably getting enough water but anything darker and you may need to up your water intake.

But gulping down glass after glass of plain water can often feel overwhelming. And kind of boring.

1. Mint Strawberry Infused Water

This works very well for a party or something to put into your gym / office bottle. Simply add a few mint leaves to some pre-filtered water and then slice a few berries. Leave to infuse for a couple of minutes and then enjoy.

Pro tip: Tear up the mint leaves before adding them to the pre-filtered water.

This will help them release even more juices and add to the flavor.

2. Apple Cinnamon Infused Water

As the name suggests, slice some apples into your infuser bottle and add some cinnamon.

You can make this even more interesting by adding pears or plums to the mix.

Did you know that cinnamon helps with digestion? This makes it an excellent hydration option after meals.

3. Blackberry Mint / Lemon Infused Water

Do this one if you’re able to let your fruit infuser bottle sit for at least 2 hours or overnight if you’re not in a hurry. Add the mint by tearing them up so that you can infuse more of its juices. If you don’t have any mints then you can slice in a lemon.

You can crush the blackberry if you have an infuser bottle that doesn’t let fruit particles get into the water so you don’t get bits in it.

This gives you a drink that is full of antioxidants thanks to flavonoids, which are the things that give blackberries their color. Drinking this on a regular basis is an excellent way to support your immune system.

4. Orange Citrus Blueberry Infused Water

This might seem like an odd combination but together they make a phenomenal flavor pairing.

This infusion is full of antioxidants and vitamin C.

As always crush the blueberries and slice the oranges into small pieces so that they can infuse and you get the maximum flavor possible.

Best fruit to use

I’ve found that citrus fruits and fresh berries hold up really nicely. I’ll also add in some tropical fruits like coconut or mango sometimes too. And you can’t forget the fresh veggies and herbs! Cucumber, mint and basil are some of my favorites that add amazing flavor.

Cucumber, Lemon, Mint Water


Wash and slice the cucumber and lemon, and rinse the mint. Place cucumber and lemon into a water jug. Fill the jug with water, mix, and leave to steep overnight in the fridge. You can keep topping off the jug with more water for a few days until you need to change the fruits and herbs.

What does it do?

This refreshing and energizing detox water is loaded with vitamin C (found in lemon) and vitamin A (found in mint), which are both powerful antioxidants. According to Goodman, lemon interacts with enzymes to stimulate gastric juices, cleanses the arteries and blood, and helps the liver produce more enzymes and release toxins. Lemon is also known for its ability to reduce inflammation, increase mineral absorption, and improve digestion, she adds.

Now for the mint. "The mint in this water may aid digestion while providing anti-inflammatory properties," says Palinski-Wade. "In addition, the aroma of lemon can awaken the senses and help you to feel more energized," she adds.

How Much Water Should You Drink A Day?

Fluid needs will differ for everyone, and can even change from day-to-day. Our needs are affected by our body size, activity level, humidity, temperature, and even altitude.

In general, the average adult male will need about 3.7 litres per day, and the average adult female will need about 2.7 litres.

The BEST way to know if you’re getting enough water? Checking the colour of your urine. If it’s a very pale yellow or clear, then you’re drinking enough. If it’s dark and you’re not going very frequently, it’s time to drink up!
